National Service Scheme
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It was launched in 1969, the centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, to engage youth in community service and nation-building activities. The primary objective of the NSS is to develop the personality and character of students through voluntary community service. The program aims to foster a sense of social responsibility, empathy, and self-discipline among the youth.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Swathi College of Pharmacy is a vibrant and dynamic organization dedicated to fostering a spirit of community service and social responsibility among students. Established with the aim of developing the personality of students through community service during 2022-2023, the NSS unit at Swathi College of Pharmacy has been actively involved in various social, environmental, and health-related activities. Presently it is leading By Mr.Pradeep Kumar Choda Asociate Professor as Programme Officer to a team of 100 members 1st Batch of NSS Volunteers.
Objectives of NSS
- Developing Leadership Qualities: To foster leadership qualities and enhance decision-making capabilities in students.
- Community Service: To encourage students to work towards social causes and contribute to community welfare.
- Personality Development: To help students develop a balanced personality by cultivating social skills and empathy.
- Promotion of National Integration: To foster the spirit of national integration and harmony among youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Encouraging Social Justice: To create awareness about social issues like education, health, sanitation, and environment, and encourage active participation in solving these problems.
- Cultural Exchange: To promote cultural exchange and appreciation among students by involving them in diverse activities.
- Skills Enhancement: To develop practical skills such as communication, organization, and teamwork.

- Organizing Events: Volunteers help in organizing various events, workshops, and programs at the local and national levels that promote the objectives of the NSS.
- Social Awareness: Volunteers are responsible for raising awareness about social issues like literacy, health, hygiene, women’s empowerment, and environmental conservation.
- Supporting Developmental Projects: Assisting in developmental projects like rural development, plantation drives, and public health programs.
- Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation: Engaging in relief operations during natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and cyclones.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Acting as leaders and motivators within their communities, encouraging others to participate in social service activities.

- Supervision and Monitoring: Supervising and monitoring the activities of NSS volunteers to ensure they are conducted effectively and in line with the program’s objectives.
