About
What is Ragging?
- Ragging includes any conduct by any student/s whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, indulging in rowdy undisciplined activities by students causing annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or raising fear or apprehension in any fresher or student.
- It also includes any act affecting the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student, and all such incidents.
The Roles and Responsibilities of the Anti-ragging Committee shall be as under:
- To root out ragging in all its forms from the College by preventing its occurrence by following the provisions of these regulations and punishing those who indulge in the same despite `prohibition and prevention’.
- It shall consider the recommendations of the Anti-ragging Squad and take appropriate decisions, including spelling out suitable punishments for those found guilty.
- The Anti-ragging Squad will have a visit, oversight and patrolling functions. It shall be kept mobile, alert and active at all times and shall be empowered to inspect places of potential ragging and make surprise raids on hostels, classrooms, and buses. The squad should investigate incidents of ragging and make recommendations to the Anti-ragging Committee, and work under the overall guidance.
- The Anti-ragging Committee should also review the efforts to publicize anti-ragging measures, cross-verify the receipt of undertaking from students and their parents/guardians every year, and facilitate the implementation of anti-ragging measures.
- Undertaking by the student and by parent/guardian must be submitted.

Objectives
- To prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging including any conduct by any student whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student.
- To monitor, direct and oversee the functions and performance of the Anti-Ragging Squads in prevention and curbing of ragging in the institution.

Anti-Ragging Squad
Squads In-charge will be responsible for the following in their areas:
- They will form duty chart & carryout regular checks for any Ragging activity in their areas.
- They will carry out surprise checks in probable areas of ragging.
- In case of any incidence noticed on the spot, assessment of the incidence be made and necessary action to be taken and inform the control cell immediately in given Performa.
- Ensure anti-ragging instructions are displayed at prominent places in their areas of control.
- Each squad in-charge will make detailed duty plan in respect of his squad and forward a list copy of the same to the control room.
Every squad in-charge will brief all members of his squad about their duties / action regarding anti-ragging.

Functions and Responsibilities of the Committee
- Policy Formulation and Implementation: The committee is responsible for framing and implementing anti-ragging policies within the institution. This includes ensuring compliance with national anti-ragging laws and guidelines.
- Awareness Programs: Conducting awareness campaigns to educate students about the adverse effects of ragging and the importance of maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment.
- Complaint Handling: Establishing a mechanism for students to report incidents of ragging confidentially. The committee should ensure prompt and fair investigation of complaints.
- Monitoring and Surveillance: Regularly monitoring campus areas, especially those prone to ragging, to ensure a safe environment for students.
- Support and Counselling: Providing support and counselling services to victims of ragging to help them recover from the trauma and continue their education without fear.
- Disciplinary Action: Recommending and enforcing disciplinary actions against individuals found guilty of ragging, which may include suspension, expulsion, or legal action as per the institutional policy and law.
- Liaison with Authorities: Coordinating with local police and other authorities to ensure legal action is taken against serious offenders.
- Reporting and Documentation: Keeping detailed records of all complaints, investigations, and actions taken to maintain transparency and accountability.
