Swathi College Pharmacy (SCP) is a pioneering pharmacy education and research centre. It has made several innovations in education leading to overall growth of students. It has established modest, vibrant, and resilient ecosystem for education.

 ‘’Express Yourself Through Your Voice’’ is a unique initiative of SCP where opportunity is provided for open expression of ones’ thoughts. The spontaneous emergence of the faculty’s capabilities and the effective administration of addressing students’ communication needs creates an ideal foundation for this unique programme.

Most of the students come from rural areas and other states of India and abroad. Hence the institute has established its distinctive approach by conducting various programs that encourage students to express their opinions and ideas. This initiative boosts self-confidence and personal growth, addresses important issues, and drives community change. By sharing experiences, students build understanding and foster meaningful relationships. They contribute solutions and perspectives to collective challenges, ensuring their voices and concerns are heard and valued.

Ethical and human values:

Inheriting ethical and human values at the institution is driven by value-based ethical behaviour, with communication playing a key role. From the moment students enter SCP, there is system to  ignite their minds with principles of ethics, human values, and self-reliance through effective communication. The “I Speak” program through Movie club within the Speak Out initiative fosters these values by promoting open dialogue and active listening while encouraging respect for diverse perspectives. It cultivates empathy and understanding among students, enhancing social cohesion. Through shared experiences, the initiative builds a strong foundation of mutual trust and cooperation, empowering students to grow both personally and socially.

Human Connect:

The second phase of students’ lives involves instilling the adage, “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” At SCP, this ideology is imparted through a robust mentorship program. Each group of 20 students is assigned a mentor, and the “Walk and Talk” sessions are held on the first Saturdays of each month. The Walk and Talk sessions complement the fostering of human connections by providing a platform for students to openly share their thoughts and experiences. It promotes active listening and empathy, enabling participants to understand and appreciate diverse perspectives. By addressing common concerns and challenges, the program strengthens bonds and cultivates a sense of community. It empowers students to support one another, fostering mutual respect and trust. Through meaningful dialogue, the Speak Out program enhances social cohesion and promotes personal growth.

Career Progression:

The Journal Club within the Speak Out initiative accelerates career progression by honing communication skills and boosting confidence. Through career-related discussions students presented their publications as e- posters, give seminars and talk. By engaging in active listening, students learn to articulate their ideas effectively and participate in meaningful conversations. The program also facilitates networking with mentors and peers, building valuable professional connections. It fosters essential leadership and problem-solving skills critical for career advancement. Overall, Speak Out equips students with the tools and opportunities necessary for long-term professional success.

Entrepreneurial Ecosystem:

Established Incubation and Entrepreneurship Cell serves a role in the Speak Out initiative program, through which many entrepreneurs give their valuable talk in the seminars and guest lectures enhances the entrepreneurial ecosystem by fostering a culture of open dialogue and innovation. It provides a platform for sharing entrepreneurial ideas and experiences, promoting active collaboration and feedback. Through networking opportunities with mentors and industry experts, students gain valuable insights and support. The initiative cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving skills, essential for entrepreneurial success. Overall, Speak Out nurtures a dynamic environment that encourages and supports entrepreneurial growth and development.

Outreach and extension activities:

The Speak Out program enhances outreach and extension efforts by creating platforms for community engagement and dialogue. It encourages students to share their insights and solutions on local and global issues, fostering broader community involvement such as awareness programs, medical camps and blood donation camps. The program facilitates partnerships with external organizations, amplifying its impact and reach. By promoting active listening and collaboration, Speak Out extends its influence beyond the institution, supporting meaningful community interactions and development.

Outcomes:

1. Students develop stronger public speaking and self-expression skills, as evidenced by their active participation in public rallies and awareness programs.
